What started out as a dream a little more than two years ago to honor our mother, Grace Phillips, is now becoming a reality! On October 5, we will achieve our goal of paying tribute to her by showcasing her lifetime achievement in Art, and to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s, from which she suffers.

As a tribute to Grace Phillips who was THE foremost Calligraphist and Watercolorist from South Africa and who was active in the arts in San Diego for over 20 years, her children Geoff and Sue Phillips, together with Scripps Memorial Hospital, are presenting this Retrospective exhibition and Silent Auction fundraiser benefit. This is a one-time spectacular event of a collection of art, painted over 70 years, some of which has never-before-previously-been seen which will be exhibited for 3 months, portraying South African scenes, florals, portraits, and landscapes from Grace’s travels all over the world.

SCENTSORY SEPTEMBER - Scent, Art, Wine Events, Seminars & Workshops
Halfway through September….where has this year gone?
As we embark on the last quarter of the year, it is hard to believe that we are already well into the next millennium….remember when it was hard to even conceive of the year two thousand….let alone we are now almost at the end of two thousand and ten!
What are our hopes, dreams and plans for the balance of the year ??
We have some great events happening both in NY and San Diego.
Firstly, we just celebrated Fashion Night Out at the Plaza Hotel’s Grand Concourse, with a Fashion and Fragrance Custom Perfume Event at the fabulous Francesco Fino Atelier. What a night of electricity and fun!
We are now planning all kinds of events: a 50th Birthday party for 50 women celebrating life and friendship with our Celebration of the Senses Custom Perfume event.
Several new Spas are becoming Spa Ambassadors with The Perfume Studio products and events and two new Fragrance Ambassadors will be joining us in September – Welcome ladies!
September is also the HBA EXPO and I shall be speaking at a seminar entitled ‘SNIFFING OUT OPPORTUNITIES” with Amy Marks-McGee, President, Trendincite LLC. Don't miss this seminar!

After the SNIFFING OUT OPPORTUNITIES seminar, Sue Phillips of Scenterprises Ltd will introduce a Custom Perfume event so you can discover your Sense of Smell at an interactive, creative fun workshop and create your own scent.There is no cost to attend the workshop for HBA registrants. To purchase your custom creation, the discounted HBA price is only $75.00, and a lucky winner will have the chance to win their own Bespoke Perfume!
At this workshop, guests will explore and discover the wonders of perfume! We offer a brief overview of the history and sensory aspects of fragrance and how memory and emotions are so interwoven with our second strongest sense. We then take guests on an olfactive ‘fragrance journey’ and invite them to participate in the creation of their OWN custom fragrance.
We explore 18 different blends spanning the entire range of the fragrance palette - from citrus, spices, florals, musks to woods,balsamics and mossy notes to name a few. Guests select their preferred blends and we decant their 'formula' into lovely designer-color purse sprays and elegant canisters or crystal bottles. Guests ‘name or theme’ their creation and receive a Certificate of Registration. We store their formula in our data base for ease of reordering.
The event is creative, interactive, informative, innovative, "scentillating" and so much fun!

Works of art by renowned Watercolorist and Calligrapher, South African GRACE PHILLIPS, will begin a 3-month exhibition of her private collection on October 5, 2010 at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. The South African artist and long-time San Diegan resident is now stricken with Alzheimer's disease.
A special fundraiser to benefit ALZHEIMER’S patients will be held on the inaugural day of the exhibition, October 5, 2010, from 5.30pm to 8.00pm at Tippet Hall, Schaetzel Center, at Scripps Memorial Hospital, The event will include a cocktail reception and Silent Auction and wonderful opportunity prizes such as a round trip ticket for two to South Africa from South African Airways, from New York or Washington, D.C. to Johannesburg or Cape Town. As part of the fundraiser, 25% of every piece of art sold will benefit Scripps La Jolla
In addition, there will also be a ‘Celebration of the Senses’ Fragrance Journey which links Memory & Emotion and without our Sense of Smell there is no enjoyment of life. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about the magic of fragrance from International Fragrance Expert, Sue Phillips, and create their own Custom Perfume at 30% off the listed price of $135, and 25% of the proceeds from the purchase price of $95 will go towards Alzheimer’s.
